Healing Point Chiropractic is not traditional chiropractic care. In the sense that the chiropractic adjustment is not a quick one minute crack. We are not the "fast-food" of chiropractors. The retraining of your nervous system is a gentle and relaxing process. One of the most important parts of the nervous system is the area around the base of the skull where the brain stem connects to the spinal cord. Here is a bone called the atlas, the first cervical vertebrae. If this bone is misplaced it can put pressure on the vagus nerve and cause many problems. The vagus nerve controls heart rate, digestion, mood and stress response. Healing Point Chiropractic uses a gentle form of upper cervical, atlas, correction using the chiropractors hands to put a gentle pressure on the atlas and move it back into place. We do not use x-ray, because of the radiation and damage done to the body. A skilled chiropractor can access the placement of the atlas using motion palpation, visual assessment, and body interpretation to determine a misalignment. Healing Point Chiropractic uses hands only to perform corrections to the spine. Mechanical devices are common in chiropractic to perform adjustments. These devices lack many things that the hands provide. The hands give feedback to the chiropractor as well as an energy exchange that can not be replicated by a machine. The cranial sacral system, nervous system, and fascial systems are also assessed at each visit to bring the body into parasympathetic mode. This helps the atlas correction to hold and allows for the nervous system to heal. By using light touches along the spine, pelvis, and sacrum on specific open locations the chiropractor can initiate a healing process in your body that restores health to the nervous system. Our goal is to bring the body back into homeostasis and health by removing stress on the nervous system. The pelvis and sacrum are one of the strongest fulcrum joints of the body and misalignments here can cause the rest of the spine to shift. This area is checked carefully and manual adjustments are made if needed using pressure and sometimes creates a cracking sound in the joints. All force adjustments are done after the body has an opportunity to bring things into alignment and consent for this is received first.

NUCCA (Upper Cervical) Chiropractic

Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a gentle way of bringing the first vertebrae of the spine into alignment. These takes tension off of the dura that surrounds the spinal cord and brain stem. This technique helps with headaches, facial pain, low back pain, neuropathy, chronic pain, and many more concerns. NUCCA stands for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association.
